Born in 1985, Furkan BEŞEL graduated from the Department of Economics in English at Marmara University in 2009. In 2010, he became a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Sakarya University. He completed his PhD in the Department of Public Finance at Sakarya University in 2017. During the 2016-2017 academic year, he worked as a visiting researcher at Durham University (UK) during his doctoral studies. He became an Associate Professor in 2018.
As of 2024, he has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Public Finance, Department of Financial Law, at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Sakarya University. He is also continuing a second undergraduate education at the Faculty of Law of Sakarya University.

He has actively taken part in the organizing committees of many national and international academic congresses and symposiums held in Türkiye and abroad, and has served as an editor and reviewer for academic journals. He has also served as an expert in tax law in tax disputes before Criminal Courts of First Instance.
He has taught courses in Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Administrative Procedural Law, Law of Obligations and Tax Law in preparatory courses for examinations such as the Judiciary Exam, District Governorship Exam, Certified Public Accountant Exam and KPSS Field Group examinations.

Furkan BEŞEL has many national and international academic studies and projects in the fields of Financial Law, Tax Law, Turkish Tax System, Public Economics, Public Finance Theory and Financial Policy. He is married and has three children.
As of August 27, 2026, he has been appointed as the Secretary General of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University.
