Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) organized the “102nd Republic Day Anniversary Special Concert” on the occasion of October 29th Republic Day.
BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer and his spouse Seran Özölçer, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, university senate members, academic and administrative staff, nursing home residents, students and residents of Zonguldak attended the concert held at the Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center on Farabi Campus.The program started with the opening speech of Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer following the singing of the National Anthem after a moment of silence. Starting his speech by greeting the participants at this meaningful event organized on the occasion of the 102nd Republic Day Anniversary, Rector Özölçer stated:
“We are experiencing the joy and pride of celebrating the 102nd anniversary of our Republic. Our noble nation announced to the whole world that they would nener give up independence with the “Sovereignity unconditionally belongs to the nation” principle under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on October 29th, 1923. In line with the goals of the Century of Türkiye, we, as the intellectual representatives of society—just like our citizens who faithfully carry out their duties across the country with the faith and determination instilled by our Republic—are fully aware of our responsibilities. As members of the academic community, our greatest duty is to raise productive and qualified individuals who are loyal to our national and moral values, worthy of our Republic, and equipped to meet the needs of our time. For a more prosperous Türkiye, we will continue to work with faith and determination, guided by the light of science. With these sentiments, I respectfully commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, and his heroic comrades-in-arms, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our veterans. On this special day, I sincerely congratulate our noble nation, our esteemed fellow citizens of Zonguldak, and all members of the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University family on the occasion of the 29 October Republic Day. I would also like to express my thanks to everyone who contributed to organizing this meaningful program.”
Following the speech, a special concert prepared by the academicians and students of the BEUN State Conservatory took place. During the evening, works reflecting the spirit and enthusiasm of the Republic, including the “100th Year March” with lyrics written by Prof. Dr. İlker Kömürcü, were performed. The hall, decorated with red and white flags, created a festive atmosphere as the audience accompanied the performances waving Turkish flags. The emotional evening concluded with Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer and his wife, Seran Özölçer, presenting certificates of appreciation and flowers to the performing academicians.
The concert, held in honor of the 102nd anniversary of the Republic, ended with a commemorative group photo and warm applause.
