Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) awarded the winners of the “In the Footsteps of the Master: BEUN Through the Lens” contest organized for the 7th anniversary of the passing of Ara Güler, the legendary name of Turkish Photography.
According to the results, Hilal Nur Oğuz, a student of the Department of Psychology at Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, won first place, İlayda Yüksel, a student of the Department of Nursery at the Faculty of Health Sciences, came second, and Beyza Nur Bacak, a student of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science, took third place. The winning students were presented their gifts by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer in a ceremony held at Farabi campus Rectorate Senate Hall.

I commemorate Ara Güler, one of the most important names of the Turkish photography, who skillfully captured the spirit of the city, its people, and life through his lens, with respect, gratitude, and mercy on the seventh anniversary of his passing. The legacy he left behind is of great value, not only for the art of photography but also for the preservation of our visual memory. Our contest has been a source of inspiration for young artists.
Today, I am very pleased to congratulate our valuable students who captured the beauty, vitality, and spirit of our university through their unique perspectives.
