Unique Anatolian Folk Songs Brought to Life by Women at BEUN

The unique folk songs of Anatolia came to life once again with the concert titled ‘Folk Songs by Women’, organized by the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN). The songs, brought to the stage through women’s heartfelt and impressive performances, were met with great appreciation from the audience.

The concert titled ‘Folk Songs by Women’, organized by the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) brought the unifying power of art and strong voice of women in the cultural production together in an impressive atmosphere.

The concert held at Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center on Farabi Campus was attended by Zonguldak Provincial Director of National Education Uygar Keskin, Director of the Workers’ Union Veli Köktürk, academic and administrative staff, students, and many citizens. Sayha Erbane Community and Women’s Chorus performed unique folk songs of Anatolia. Starting after the opening speech, the concert transformed into a culture fest with applause and participation of the audience. Folk songs coming to life through women introduced the voice of Anatolia with the audience.

The program concluded with a commemorative photo following the performance.

Rector Özölçer: “Our Folk Songs Are Unique Values That Preserve the Nation’s Memory”

In his remarks on the concert, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized the significance of art in terms of social solidarity and cultural continuity and stated the following:

“It is a source of happiness and pride to listen to Turkish folk music, one of the cornerstones of our culture, from women in the event called ‘Folk Songs by Women’. Our folk songs are the significant heritage that preserve the memory, happiness, sorrows, and common values for the future. As one of the most deep-rooted institutions, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we consider development in the areas of culture and arts significant not just the scientific production. As art is a universal language that strengthens the social connection and enriches the aesthetic world.

I would like to extend my thanks to Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center, Seyha Erbane Community, valuable chorus and those who attended the event. Our university will continue to support art and artist, cultural values, and preserve it for the future generations.”
