Küçült Yazı Tipi Büyüt

The project titled “Exploring the Artificial Intelligence Literacy of Faculty of Communication Students: A Task-Based Qualitative Case Study,” led by Lecturer Dr. Mutluhan Çamur, one of the academics of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Faculty of Communication, with Assistant Professor Dr. Mehmet Ceylan serving as a researcher, has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 1002 Rapid Support Program.

Artificial Intelligence Use to Be Examined Through Knowledge and Skills

The project will address the artificial intelligence literacy of Faculty of Communication students through a task-based approach. In the project, students’ experiences with artificial intelligence tools and the skills they demonstrate during practice will be examined comparatively. The research will focus on students’ practices of producing AI-assisted content, critically evaluating the outputs produced, verifying information, and making ethical decisions.

Research Findings to Guide Educational Processes

Based on the findings to be obtained within the scope of the project, recommendations will be developed for course content, practical examples, and task-based learning activities aimed at improving artificial intelligence literacy in faculties of communication. The research also aims to contribute to educating individuals who will specialize in the field of communication and who will not only use artificial intelligence tools quickly and effectively, but also question and verify the information produced, evaluate the outputs from a critical perspective, and act with a sense of ethical responsibility.

Rector Özölçer: “We Must Educate Generations Who Can Manage Artificial Intelligence Critically and Responsibly, Not Merely Use It”

BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer made the following remarks regarding the project:

“At our university, we consider it highly valuable that our academics conduct studies that address current developments from a scientific perspective and put forward solutions for the needs of the future. We are proud and pleased that this project, led by Lecturer Dr. Mutluhan Çamur, one of the academics of our Faculty of Communication, with Assistant Professor Dr. Mehmet Ceylan serving as a researcher, has been supported under the TÜBİTAK 1002 Rapid Support Program.

Artificial intelligence technologies are causing significant changes in the field of communication, as in many areas of our lives. Developing students’ artificial intelligence literacy is of great importance to ensure that these technologies can be used correctly, consciously, and responsibly in educational processes and professional practices. It is highly valuable that the project addresses not only the knowledge and evaluations of Faculty of Communication students regarding artificial intelligence tools, but also how they use these tools during practice. I hope that the results to be obtained will make significant contributions to studies to be conducted in different fields, particularly academic education in the field of communication.

With these feelings and thoughts, I would like to express my gratitude to the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the Council of Higher Education family for their visionary efforts aimed at strengthening the scientific production capacity of our higher education system. I would like to thank TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın and the TÜBİTAK family for their strong support for scientific research and a project culture focused on society.

I sincerely congratulate the project coordinator, Lecturer Dr. Mutluhan Çamur, and researcher Assistant Professor Dr. Mehmet Ceylan for this valuable work and wish them outstanding success in their studies.”
