A Ceremony Worthy of Nursing Week at BEUN Hospital

Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, Chief Nursing Officer Vildan Kalkan Akyüz expressed her great satisfaction in organizing such a meaningful program within the scope of Nursing Week. Following Akyüz, BEUN Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Burak Bahadır stated that nurses are one of the most essential pillars of the healthcare system and extended his congratulations to all nurses and nursing students on Nursing Week. He emphasized that thanks to the devoted work of nurses, both service quality and patient satisfaction at the hospital continue to increase each day. In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Bahadır also thanked Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his significant contributions to the development of the hospital.

Rector Özölçer: “Nursing Is a Blessed Duty Dedicated to Humanity”

Taking the podium to deliver his speech, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated that nursing is not merely a profession but a great humanitarian mission devoted to humanity. He said:

“On the occasion of the 12–18 May Nursing Week, I sincerely congratulate all our nurses who regard touching human life as a duty of the heart beyond a profession, who combine patience with compassion and knowledge with conscience. I would especially like to emphasize that all our healthcare professionals are the first to respond when a person feels most helpless. Nursing, one of the valuable professions in our healthcare sector, is a blessed duty that consoles hearts shadowed by illness, shares pain with patience, searches for remedies, and always remains the patient’s hope.

The words of Şeyh Edebali, one of the spiritual architects of the Ottoman State, ‘Let the people live so that state may live,’ most eloquently express the value our civilization places on human life and the noble duty of protecting it. On this occasion, I would like to extend my endless gratitude to all healthcare workers present here.”

Rector Özölçer: “Behind Our Achievements Lies the Great Effort of Healthcare Workers”

Continuing his speech, Rector Özölçer highlighted the rising success of BEUN Hospital in the field of healthcare and emphasized that every achievement is made possible through the dedicated efforts of healthcare workers:
“When we consider the number of inpatients, bed occupancy rates, and the number of surgeries performed at our University Hospital, it is clearly seen how greatly our nurses and all healthcare workers strive with dedication and sacrifice. I wholeheartedly believe that, with your devoted efforts, we will accomplish even greater achievements in the new period.

Today, we will present certificates of appreciation to our esteemed nurses who have successfully completed their specialization training. We will also present plaques to our valuable nurses who have served for many years with outstanding effort, dedication, and invaluable contributions to human life. I sincerely congratulate them all.”
