Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) implemented a meaningful project that reflects its sensitive approach towards the nature and stray animals within the framework of 4th October World Animal Day. Cat houses built under the supervision of Ms. Seran Özölçer, the spouse of the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, were placed in different parts of Farabi Campus, thus creating safe and warm homes for the beloved companions, especially on cold and rainy days.
Thanks to this project on Farabi Campus, it not only meets the shelter needs of stray animals, but the campus ecosystem also gained a humane touch. As members of the BEUN family, our aim is to be there for the happy residents of the campus and fulfill our responsibility towards nature with awareness-raising activities.
This initiative led by Seran Özölçer is expected to be supported by students and staff. This project is a sign of social solidarity and responsibility. Ms. Seran Özölçer commented on the project as:
“It was our main desire to provide our beloved companions with a warm and safe home throughout the year. They are a part of the campus community, and we couldn’t accept that they were affected by the wind, cold, and rain. I hope with these homes, we will have made a small but meaningful impact on their lives. I believe that this project carried out for the 4th October World Animal Day is meaningful and hope the sensitive approach of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University towards nature, environment, and all the living beings will be strengthened with such projects. My greatest wish is that our students and staff wholeheartedly embrace these homes and our beloved companions feel secure. With these in mind, I would like to thank those who have contributed to this project.”
BEUN continues to be a higher education institution that makes a difference with its social projects not only in academic life but also in social spaces. This initiative for our animal friends is expected to leave a mark in campus life.
