Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) organized a meaningful event for the 7th anniversary of the passing of Ara Güler, the legendary name of Turkish Photography. Organized under the leadership of the Rectorate and receiving great interest from students, the winning photographs of the photography competition titled “In the Footsteps of the Master: BEUN Through the Lens” have been announced. According to the results, Hilal Nur Oğuz, a student of the Department of Psychology at Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, won first place, İlayda Yüksel, a student of the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, came second, and Beyza Nur Bacak, a student of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science, took third place.
During the evaluation process held at the Senate Hall on Farabi Campus, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer assessed the photographs sent to the Corporate Communications Office. At the end of the assessment process, based on the artistic and aesthetic point of view, three photographs were determined to be the best.

Emphasizing the meaning of the competition and congratulating the winning students, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:
“I am glad and honored that the photography competition titled “In the Footsteps of the Master: BEUN Through the Lens” has been held here for the 7th anniversary of one of the most important names of Turkish Photography, the visual memory of İstanbul, Ara Güler’s passing. The valuable artist left significant marks behind both in our country and in the world, and became a loved and respected figure, dedicating his life to the art of photography. I commemorate him with respect on the anniversary of his passing. I extend my thanks to my colleagues who organized this event and the valuable students who shared their photos. I wholeheartedly congratulate our winning students, Hilal Nur Oğuz, İlayda Yüksel, and Beyza Nur Bacak. Our university aims to raise well-equipped individuals through artistic, cultural, and social activities, as well as providing them with a qualified academic education. We will continue our innovative activities in line with our vision, which is based on a focused approach and supports art and culture. Such activities provide students with an opportunity to express themselves through photography and look at the campus from different perspectives.
