An international conference called “The Innovation Gap and The Future of Medtech Innovation” was held at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) İbni Sina campus.
The Vice Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal, Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Hande Aydemir, BEUN Hospital Chief Physician, Prof. Dr. Burak Bahadır, academic staff, and many students attended the event held at BEUN Hospital Şebnem Kargı Conference Hall.
The speaker of the conference, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Alkhouli, Vice Chair for Strategic Partnership, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, talked about the future of innovative approaches in medicine and health technologies. Prof. Dr. Alkhouli shared his evaluations on how the medical innovation will transform the health systems in the future.
The event was organized within the scientific research project led by Prof. Dr. Ersöz Gonca. In the project team, Prof. Dr. Hale Sayan Özaçmak from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mete Keçeci from the Department of Histology and Embryology, and Lecturer Salih Erdem from Ahmet Erdoğan Vocational School of Health Services took part. On the Istanbul University side of the project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatemeh Bahadori from the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, was involved.
Current scientific developments related to the project titled “Cardioprotective Effects of Thymoquinone-Loaded Nanostructured Polymeric Carriers on Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury and Ventricular Arrhythmias: The Role of the SIRT1/FOXO-1 Signaling Pathway, Autophagy, and Ferroptosis” were also shared in the conference.
The conference continued with the Q&A session. The attendees found the answers to their questions related to the future of medical technologies. At the end of the conference, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Alkhouli was presented with a certificate of appreciation, and the conference concluded with a commemorative photo.
