The 2025–2026 Academic Board Meeting of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Faculty of Dentistry was held.
The meeting, held at the Faculty of Dentistry at Tahir Karauğuz Conference Hall, was attended by the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer; the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Baran Can Sağlam; Director of Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center Prof. Dr. Mustafa Murat Koçak, vice deans; and academic staff.
Academic and Administrative Activities at the Faculty of Dentistry and Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center Were Discussed in Detail
At the opening of the meeting, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Baran Can Sağlam delivered a comprehensive presentation on the activities carried out during the 2024–2025 Academic Year. Prof. Dr. Sağlam shared detailed information on the planned activities for the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the new academic year planning, the numbers of academic and administrative staff and students, as well as the completed and ongoing scientific, social, and academic projects at the faculty.
In his presentation, he also addressed the academic projects planned to be implemented and the social, cultural, and community-oriented activities intended for students. Concluding his remarks, Prof. Dr. Sağlam expressed his gratitude to the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, for his support for the development of the Faculty of Dentistry.
Following the presentation, the 2025–2026 Academic Board Meeting of the Faculty of Dentistry continued with the presentation of certificates of appreciation by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer to academicians who distinguished themselves with their scientific publications in national and international indexes.
Rector Özölçer: “Faculty of Dentistry Has a Leading Role with Its Qualified Scientific Production and Quality Focused Health Services”
After the certificate ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer delivered a general evaluation of the 2024–2025 Academic Year and wished the 2025–2026 Academic Year Spring Semester to be auspicious for the university community. Rector Özölçer stated that the qualified education, research carried out by the Faculty of Dentistry, and practice activities done by the Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center made significant contributions to the university’s scientific strength and contributed greatly to scientific production in the field of health and social benefit.
Emphasizing the significant improvements in academic field, Özölçer stated that it is a source of pride for the university that the study titled “Nonsurgical endodontic treatment of teeth with large periapical lesions: Case Series” was awarded Second Prize in Oral Presentation at 3rd Oral Microbiota Congress.
Also, emphasizing the research titled “The Microbial Community in Root Canal Infections of Diabetic Patients” presented at 16th International Turkish Endodontic Association Congress was awarded First Prize in Oral Presentation among 103 oral presentations, Özölçer stated that high citation achievements increased academic visibility.
Highlighting the fact that 7 project applications of Faculty of Dentistry students were approved under 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program strengthens the student-focused research culture, Özölçer stated that the fact that the projects of the student clubs were entitled to support under UNİDES contributes to students’ scientific and social development.
Rector Özölçer noted that having part time professors under Article 46 (Additional) of Higher Education Law strengthens the academic structure and added that enhancing the capacity of Faculty of Dentistry and Dental Hospital is a significant improvement in education and health services.
Stating that BEUN Dental Hospital, a third-grade health institution in Western Black Sea Region, contributes greatly to the local people in terms of health and educational activities, Rector Özölçer emphasized that the academic and practical initiatives of the faculty reflect the strong vision in health.
At the end of his speech, Rector Özölçer emphasized that he is pleased with the academic success and scientific studies as well as the healthcare services they provide for the local people and stated his belief that the Faculty of Dentistry would continue its strong momentum in scientific research and practical applications in the coming period. He thanked all academic and administrative staff and wished them continued success in their work.
