Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Unievrsity(BEUN) Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences 2025-2026 Academic Board Meeting was held.

The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, the Dean of Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Melih Geniş, vice-deans, and academics attended the meeting held at Doç. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall.

Academic and Administrative Activities of Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Were Discussed

At the opening of the meeting, Dean Prof. Dr. Melih Geniş delivered a presentation on the activities carried out during the 2024–2025 Academic Year. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Geniş provided detailed information on the planned activities for the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the new academic year roadmap, the number of academic and administrative staff and students, as well as the scientific and social projects and academic studies that have been completed or are currently ongoing within the faculty. He also shared information on the academic projects they aim to implement and the social, cultural, and community-oriented activities planned for students. Concluding his remarks, Prof. Dr. Geniş thanked BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his continuous support for the development of the Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Following the presentations, the 2025–2026 Academic Meeting of Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences continued with BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer presenting certificates of appreciation to academicians who stood out with their scientific publications in national and international indexed journals.

Rector Özölçer: “Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences strengthens the intellectual vision of the university”

After the certificate presentation, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer delivered a general evaluation of the 2024–2025 Academic Year. Rector Özölçer wished the 2025–2026 Academic Year to be auspicious for the university family.

Emphasizing that naming the faculty after Teoman Duralı with the Presidential Decree is not just a name change, but a statement of our vision and added:

“It is a source of pride for us to name the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of our university with 101 years of history after the local and national voice of the late Prof. Dr. Teoman Duralı with the approval of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This meaningful decision is a strong sign of the intellectual tradition, cultural roots, and intellectual legacy.”

Özölçer also stated that having students for the first time in the Department of Philosophy and introducing the young minds to Prof. Dr. İhsan Fazlıoğlu, a distinguished name in his field, with the course titled “Introduction to Philosophy” is a significant academic development.

Emphasizing that Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences stands out with its scientific productivity, social contribution activities, and student focused projects, Özölçer stated that TÜBİTAK supported initiatives carried out at the faculty are concrete signs of success. He also stated that recording the local cultural legacy and introducing it to the academic literature through the cultural project titled “Folk Culture within the Framework of Mining and Industrialization: The Case of Karadeniz Ereğli” is extremely valuable.

Highlighting that it is a source of pleasure for us that the faculty students were granted within the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program, Özölçer stated that strong research culture on the undergraduate level is one of the most concrete signs of raising qualified academic human resources vision. Özölçer added: “Our students’ producing scientific projects even on the undergraduate level, having the research discipline, and being in the national support programs is a reflection of research focused approach of our university.”

He stated that the Departments of History, English Language and Literature, and Turkish Language and Literature were entitled to receive Türkiye Qualifications Framework (TYÇ) logo, which is a significant success in terms of quality assurance. Erasmus+ meetings, international symposium participation and academic collaborations also enhance the international visibility of the faculty.

Mentioning social contribution initiatives, Özölçer emphasized that courses of University of the Third Age, social responsibility projects, and collaborations with the stakeholders strengthens the structure of the university that integrates with the society.

At the end of his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer he thanked all the academic and administrative staff who contributed to the development of the faculty and stated that Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will continue to produce ideas, contribute to the literature and work with a sense of responsibility.
