The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer made evaluations as part of the university preference period following the announcement of the results of the Higher Education University Exam (YKS) to national and local press members.

 In his remarks to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Demirören News Agency (DHA), İhlas News Agency and local press members, Rector Özölçer wished success to prospective students and made evaluations on the points to remember in the preference period.

Highlighting that prospective students need to consider the rankings during the preference period between 29 July-10 August, Rector Özölçer stated that it was significant for students to prefer departments where they believe they will be happy in line with their interest and skills.

Highligting the significance of using reliable information resources during this period for students, Rector Özölçer said “One of the most reliable resouces for the prospective studetns is YÖK ATLAS system as the President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar frequently states. YÖK ATLAS provides studetns with comprehensive information online and via its mobile application.

Emphasizing that students can filter through departments according to the success rate, Rector Özölçer stated that studetns can see which universities have the programs they are looking for, minimum scores from previous years, rankings, and last admitted student’s score. Noting that prospective studetns can see of the programs they will prefer to have the Türkiye Qualifications Framework Logo (TYÇ), Özölçer stated that this data will contribute to studetns make more informed choices.

Stating that it is a significant part of the preference period that studetns should be informed on the universities, Rector Özölçer advised studetns to visit the university campuses if have the chance. Özölçer added: “Students who do not have that chance can get information from the university websites, social media accounts, and corporate communication units.”

Rector Özölçer: “BEUN Provides Students with a Comprehensive University Experience”

Answering the question “What advice can you give for students who will prefer Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University?” of press members, Rector Özölçer stated that BEUN provides students with a comprehensive university experience with its long history and education infrastructure. Highlighting that BEUN has a strong academic structure with its 13 campuses, 16 faculties, and 9 vocational schools, Özölçer stated that students can make use of many facilities that allow students develop themselves. Rector Özölçer noted that students can strenghthen their qualifications and diplomas making use of the double major opportunities. Noting the internationalization opportunities, Özölçer highlighted that students can get international experiences abroad thanks to BEUN’s agreements signed within the scope of Erasmus+.

Advising students planning to be in the field of engineering, Rector Özölçer stated that students can gain experience in projects and competitions along with their education.

Emphasizing that Faculty of Engineering students have the chance to get ready for many technology and innovation competitions such as TEKNOFEST through student teams, Özölçer stated that initiatives carried out by National Technologies Workshops contribute to the students.

Highlighting that university life is not only about academic education, Rector Özölçer stated that BEUN students have the chance to develop themselves in various arts, cultural, and sports activities. Noting that students can be active throughout their university lives through activities and clubs, Özölçer stated that these opportunities contr,bute to the social and personal development of students.

“We Provide Theoretical and Hands-on Education Opportunities in the Field of Health”

Talking about the prospective students planning to enter the field of health, Rector Özölçer highlighted the strong academic and hands on training opportunities in the field of health at BEUN. Highlighting that students have the chance to improve their ability in clinical fields as well as their theoretical knowledge, Rector Özölçer stated that they give importance to raising students professionally well established during their university years. Students can complete their hands on education in various application centers in the field of health, particularly BEUN Hospital.
