
The opening program of the Science Workshop, organized by Zonguldak TED College in collaboration with the Faculty of Science at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), was held at the BEUN Doç. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall.

The opening ceremony was attended by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Kadir Demir, Director of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Fikret Gölgeleyen, Founding Representative of TED Zonguldak College Burçin Bahadır, senate members, academicians, teachers, and high school students.
The program started with a moment of silence and the signing of the National Anthem.
In her opening speech, Burçin Bahadır, Founding Representative of TED Zonguldak College, expressed her satisfaction with the cooperation between Zonguldak TED College and BEUN and emphasized the importance of bringing students together with scientific studies. She thanked BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, as well as academicians, teachers, students, and everyone who contributed to the realization of the workshop.
In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Kadir Demir emphasized the importance of guiding young people toward science and supporting them with applied learning environments. He stated that it is valuable for students to gain experience in laboratory settings within the scope of the workshop. Prof. Dr. Demir also expressed his gratitude to BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his support in organizing the event and thanked all academicians, teachers, and students who contributed.
As part of the opening ceremony, Director of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Fikret Gölgeleyen gave a presentation on the “History of Mathematics”. The history of mathematics was explained during the presentation, which was followed with great interest.
As part of the workshop, high school students will carry out various experiments under the supervision of Faculty of Science at BEUN Faculty of Science. The program will provide the opportunity to experience scientific processes in applied learning environment.
In his remarks on the program, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:
“It is of great importance for our young people to engage with scientific activities at an early age and to become familiar with the university environment in terms of their future planning. As BEUN, we attach great importance to collaborations with educational institutions. Bringing our students together with our academicians and enabling them to conduct hands-on studies in laboratory environments will enhance their scientific awareness and contribute to their career goals. I believe that the Science Workshop will improve our students’ skills in research, inquiry, and production. As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we will continue to share our academic knowledge and experience with all segments of society. I would like to thank the administration of Zonguldak TED College, our academicians at the Faculty of Science, and everyone who contributed to the organization of the workshop.”
