
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has added another initiative to its ongoing efforts to strengthen its healthcare service infrastructure. General Internal Medicine and Endocrinology Service at BEUN Hospital was officially opened with a ceremony and has begun providing services following the completion of comprehensive renovation works.
The Rector of BEUN Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, BEUN Chief of Physician Prof. Dr. Burak Bahadır, The Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Hande Aydemir, the Director of Obesity and Diabetics Application and Research Center Prof. Dr. Taner Bayraktaroğlu, academic and administrative staff, students and press members attended the opening ceremony held at BEUN Hospital.
In line with the renovations made in the General Internal Medicine and Endocrinology Service, the walls, floors, vitrified elements, and furniture in the service were renewed. Patient-to-nurse call systems, oxygen tanks by the beds and vacuum and gas infrastructure were renewed, and air conditioning systems were updated in modern standards.
Rooms were redesigned in line with the arrangements to enhance patient comfort. In this respect, four bed hospital rooms were transformed into two bed rooms. The renovated service has begun providing service with a total capacity of 23 beds.
Rector Özölçer: “We Are Improving Quality in Health Services with Our Renovated Service”
The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized that the renovation works at the university hospital are carried out to improve the quality of health services and said:
“We continue to strengthen the capacity of health services at our university hospital. The opening of General İnternal Medicine and Endocrinology Service following the comprehensive renovation process will improve the health service quality both in our city and region. Also, it will serve as a qualified application and training atmosphere for our students and young doctors.
I extend my gratitude to the Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu for his support in the development of our health service and Ministry of Health community. The newly renovated service is a significant gain for our university, students, healthcare professionals and people of Zonguldak. I believe this service will add value to the health field for years to come both in terms of education and service. I hope this service will benefit the region, city, university, and our country and thank everyone who contributed.
