Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Univeristy (BEUN) hosted another meaningful meeting that strengthens the intercultural interaction with the international students from different parts of the world. The Rector of BEUN, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer met international students in the traditional breakfast program organized by Karaelmas TÖMER (Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center).
The Rector of BEUN, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Director of Karaelmas TÖMER, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Yumurtacı, Deputy Director Lecturer Esar Öncül, academic and administrative staff, and international students attended the breakfast program held at Café Academi on 15 Temmuz Şehitler Campus.
Taking a close interest in the students who had the chance to be placed in associate degree, undergraduate and graduate level programs at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University and learn Turkish in the Karaelmas TÖMER program, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer had conversations with the students individually and listened to their experiences. Stating that students had a strong start at their academic life in Türkiye by learning Turkish, Prof. Dr. Özölçer emphasized that Turkish language education does not only focus on teaching the language itself but serves as a cultural bridge.
Rector Özölçer: “Intenational students are the source of cultural richness”
“Our students who graduate from Karaelmas TÖMER will become cultural ambassadors by learning the values of the Turkish culture as well as the richness of the language. I wholeheartedly believe that the experiences our valuable students acquire in Karaelmas TÖMER, one of the most distinguished units of our university, will shed light on their academic journey. I believe as individuals who can speak, think in, and feel in Turkish, they will carry our city- which brings the richness of the culture and labor together with its natural beauties- and our country as well as our deep-rooted university in their hearts. We are always proud of our students who chose to be a part of our university, coming from various parts of the world to learn Turkish and Turkish culture. I hope they will tell of our culture and country in their own country or other countries they visit in the best way possible. I, hereby, would like to thank particularly the Director of Karaelmas TÖMER, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Yumurtacı as well as the academic and administrative staff who work hard to teach Turkish language and culture. I wish success to our students in their academic life. We will always support our students as BEUN Family.”
The event ended with a commemorative photo.
