The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer attended the “Kocaeli University Students’ Congress of Scientific Studies”, organized in collaboration with member universities of Western Black Sea Universities Union and hosted by Kocaeli University. AS one of the most comprehensive student congresses in Türkiye, the event brought together scientific production and cultural interaction.

Science And Youth Meeting with Wide Participation

The opening of the congress, held at the Prof. Dr. Baki Komsuoğlu Congress and Cultural Center, was attended by the BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Rector of Kocaeli University Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer Cantürk, Rector of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık, Rector of Kocaeli Health and Technology University Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, Rector of Çankırı Karatekin University Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Karataş, Rector of Düzce University Prof. Dr. Nedim Sözbir, Rector of Yalova University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Bahçekapılı, many academics, administrative staff, and students.

The opening program began with a moment of silence and singing of the National Anthem and continued with a musical performance by Kocaeli University State Conservatory and folk dances by international students.

In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer Cantürk emphasized that the congress was more than an academic event, but a multidimensional platform that might help students develop themselves as researchers and strengthen the interdisciplinary interaction. Cantürk also highlighted that the congress was the “Congress of THE MOST” being the most scientific, social, cultural, and fun. The panel held by the rectors titled “Raising Scientists of the Future: Universities, Student Research, and Innovation” was widely appreciated by the audience. During the panel moderated by SUBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer spoke as a panelist. The topics such as scientific production culture, student researchers, innovation and health, defense, climate were discussed in the panel.

Rector Özölçer: “Young Generation is the Strongest Guarantee of the Future”

In his remarks on the topic, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:

“Adopting the scientific research culture is the cornerstone of a strong and sustainable academic future. In this respect, such organizations that strengthen the relationship of the students with science are significant. This valuable congress, hosted by Kocaeli University in collaboration with Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, is a platform which enables students to express themselves, interact with academics from various disciplines, and share their innovative ideas.

I would like to thank particularly the Rector Kocaeli University Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer Cantürk and Kocaeli University community who contributed to the organization of such a significant congress, and all contributing universities, academics, researchers, and students. I congratulate all our students who attended and participated in the organization and wish them continuous success in their academic life.”

During the two-day congress, there will be 700 papers and poster presentations in various disciplines. The panels with the participation of experts and activities, the program is expected to be a social fest as well as an academic one. The event offers a multidimensional experience through concerts, exhibitions, and competitions for the attendees.
