The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer paid a visit to the President of Zonguldak Journalists’ Association Derya Akbıyık and the members of the board of directors. During the visit, Rector Özölçer shared his evaluations on the projects carried out and achievements attained at BEUN.

Rector Özölçer: “Our Priority Lies in Sustainable Academic Quality”
During the visit, the Rector of BEUN, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer highlighted that universities were evaluated on their qualified academic production, not just the digital quality. Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer “We follow an understanding that is centered on the quality, acceptability, and institutional prestige rather than the number of students. In this period, in which CoHE revises the student quotas, we prioritize to increase quality in educational and research activities.”
Emphasizing that they care about all kinds of collaborations with Zonguldak Journalists’ Association, which includes deep-rooted media institutions, Rector Özölçer stated that media holds a significant role in sharing the scientific and academic information with the public in an accurate, objective and reliable manner.
“BEUN is an Institution That Meets the Needs of the Region”
Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized that BEUN takes on mission in the fields of education, research, and public service not just in Zonguldak, but in the region. Noting that thanks to its academic knowledge, research and application centers, and qualified human resources, the university is a strong institution that can meet the needs of the region, Rector Özölçer stated that BEUN Hospital is health center for the region with its advanced health technologies. He also stated that he is pleased with the qualified health service provided and underlined the increase in the number of achievements in the field of health. Highlighting that BEUN Hospital, BEUN Oncology Hospital and BEUN Dental Hospital are all trying to meet the need of the region, Rector Özölçer stated that BEUN takes on a meaningful responsibility and is proud to be favorite among the citizens as a result of their dedicated work.
Emphasizing the pleasure, he has for the collaborations with the Zonguldak Journalists’ Association, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer expressed his thanks to the President of the Association Derya Akbıyık and board members.
Extending his pleasure for the kind visit, the President of Zonguldak Journalists’ Association Derya Akbıyık said, “Our Rector honored us with their visit. We believe strong ties between the university and the media will enhance the professional experience of young communication professionals and contribute to the development of our city in this field. I hope this collaboration results in projects and be beneficial for all of us.”
Emphasizing that BEUN’s vision for the next term will be remarkable, Akbıyık stated that initiatives taken to develop campuses in the districts, particularly in the city center will lead to great outcomes for Zonguldak.
