The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer met with journalists working in the local and national press in the event organized on the occasion of January 10, Working Journalists’ Day.
Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor Gökhan Kapağan, the Rector of BEUN Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Zonguldak Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Barış Cücen, Provincial Police Chief Sinan Ergen, Secretary General of the Zonguldak Special Provincial Administration Ahmet Güral Karayılmaz, President of Karaelmas Foundation of Journalists Bahaddin Arı, the President of the Zonguldak Journalists’ Association Derya Akbıyık, city dignitaries, and members of the press attended the event organized by Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu.
Speaking in the program, Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu highlighted the significance of the day and congratulated the press members working devotedly particularly in Zonguldak and across Türkiye on January 10, Working Journalists’ Day.
Rector Özölçer: “Press Members are the Trusted Source of Public Opinion”
In his remarks on the program, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized the irreplaceable place of press in a democratic society and added:
“I would like to state that the responsibility of the press members in terms of enabling access to impartial and reliable information is significant. The dedicated journalists make significant contributions to informing the public in a healthy and accurate manner and thus serve the proper guidance of public opinion. Especially in the modern world where information is spread quickly, the hard work of press members who abide by the professional principles should be appreciated.
I would like to extend my gratitude to Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu who hosted this meaningful event. The close attention and sincere hospitality that our esteemed Governor has always shown to the press community added special value to the program.
We are pleased to be here with journalists. As one of the most deep-rooted and strongest higher education institutions, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we care about the strong and constructive communication with the national and local press members in our city. We appreciate the contributions of the press members in informing the public in a transparent and accurate manner.
