The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmial Hakkı Özölçer attended the opening ceremony of the new building of Karaelmas Journalists Association, a significant contribution to Zonguldak Press.
The opening ceremony was attended by Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor Gökhan Kapağan, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, the President of the Karaelmas Journalists Association İlknur Yılmaz, representatives of political parties and nongovernmental organizations, members of the association, and press members.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu wished the new building to be auspicious and wished the press members success in their endeavors.
The opening ceremony was considered as a significant gain for the Zonguldak press and it was emphasized that it would provide the journalists with the opportunity to work more efficiently. Attendees stated that press is one of the essential elements of democratic societies and highlighted the significance of objective news.

The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following in his remarks on the opening ceremony:
“Press members are essential in proving accurate and reliable information by working with great dedication day and night. In this respect, the press contributes to creating and developing social awareness as well as conveying the news. The contribution of the press is precious when it comes to creating visibility of the potential of Zonguldak and the projects carried out in the local, national, and international community. Likewise, we always feel the support of the press in delivering the academic, scientific, and social activities of all our educational institutions, especially our university, to wider audiences. I wholeheartedly believe that this new building will create a momentum for the initiatives of Karaelmas Journalists Association. I congratulate the President of the Association İlknur Yılmaz and wish the building to be beneficia. I would like to thank all press members who work with dedication to deliver accurate and objective information to the people.”
