
The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer attended the 264th Interuniversity Board Meeting, where recent developments in the field of higher education were evaluated.
Thee meeting held at Council of Higher Education (YÖK) was held under the chairmanship of the President of the YÖK, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. Attended by Interuniversity Board President Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Kapu and rectors of state and foundation universities from across Türkiye, the meeting comprehensively addressed current issues on the higher education agenda.
YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar Shared the Strategic Goals in Higher Education
Highlighting the quality-oriented transformation in his opening speech, President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar provided the attendees with information on the strategic planning carried out for the future of Turkish higher education system. In his speech, Özvar made evaluations on internationalization, micro-credentials, university-industry collaboration, education models aligned with employment needs.
Emphasizing the significance of initiatives in line with “Road Map of Turkish Higher Education Toward 2030”, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that they will continue to carry out quality, accessibility, and sustainability focused policies.

Remarks on the 264th Interuniversity Board Meeting from Rector Özölçer
In his remarks following the meeting, Rector Özölçer stated that the discussions on the strategic goals for the future of the higher education were productive and added:
“I believe that the 264th Interuniversity Meeting, during which issues shaping the development of our higher education system were comprehensively evaluated, has produced significant outcomes for higher education in our country. Strategic topics such as quality-oriented transformation in higher education, internationalization, micro-credentials, university-industry collaboration, and employment-oriented education models were discussed in detail.
I would like to express my gratitude to the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, for his leadership in developing this vision and in ensuring the continued implementation of initiatives aimed at the future of our higher education system. I also extend my thanks to the President of the Interuniversity Board, Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Kapu, and all board members for their contributions to the successful organization of the meeting.
As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we will continue our efforts with determination in the fields of education, research, and social contribution in line with our country’s higher education goals.”
Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer also stated that he believes the decisions taken and the evaluations made during the meeting will make significant contributions to the Turkish higher education system.
