The program titled “Professions of the Future: Offshore Drilling Technology” organized by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Science Communication Office was held at Café Akademi on the 15 Temmuz Şehitler Campus.

Mualla Toksan, lecturer at Offshore Subsea Operations Program at BEUN Çaycuma Vocational School and Doğukan Albuzlu, graduate of Offshore Subsea Operations Program attended as speakers. The program was moderated by the Head of BEUN Science Communication Office, Asst. Prof. Dr. Melek Toparlak Şahin.

In her opening speech for the program Asst. Prof. Dr. Melek Toparlak Şahin stated that the program titled “Professions of the Future” aims to inform prospective students about the professions of the future. Highlighting that Offshore Subsea Operations Technology program raises qualified technicians in the fields of subsea operations and drilling technologies and research subsea resources in line with Mavi Vatan vision, Şahin stated that the program is one of the outstanding associate degree programs as part of the Council of Higher Education 2030 Vision.

Speaking in the program Lecturer Mualla Toksan gave information about the education, training opportunities, and its place in the sector of Offshore Subsea Operations Program. Highlighting that the program continues with a 100% occupancy rate since opening, Toksan stated that students have the opportunity to get hands-on education in modern workshops and laboratories. Toksan also talked about students’ compulsory internship process, the opportunity to transfer to bachelor’s degree, and academic and professional career opportunities following graduation.

Offshore Subsea Operations Program graduate, Doğukan Albuzlu shared his experience in preferring this program and stated that Türkiye’s national energy goals and his willing to contribute to natural gas exploration activities contributed to the process of preferring this program. Highlighting that graduates can be employed in various fields of the offshore drilling, seabed applications, and energy sector, Albuzlu recommended the students to make use of the hands-on training opportunities and love their profession.

During the program where speakers answered the participants’ questions, comprehensive evaluations were shared on the educational process, hands-on training opportunities, fields of study, career opportunities, and sector’s future.
