Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Orientation Program and 8th Student Club Introduction Days started with the opening speech of the Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, which was broadcast live across all campuses.
The Rector of BEUN, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu, Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal, Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, academic and administrative staff, and students attended the opening ceremony at Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center.
Following a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, the BEUN introductory film that includes the history and vision of BEUN was screened. Rector Özölçer wished students a successful university life in his speech following the film screening.
Starting his speech welcoming the attendants with love and respect, Rector Özölçer emphasized that Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University is one of the first universities of the Republic and said the university makes a difference in higher education with its strong academic staff and student-oriented education approach. He stated that the university started as the “School of Mining Engineering” and continues its journey as one of the most innovative and dynamic universities.
Prof. Dr. Özölçer stated that the university stands out not only for its academic success but also for a wide range of opportunities for the students, and added the following:
“You will have education in one of the most beautiful cities of Türkiye with its seafront campus. We provide you with a productive, lively, and supportive university life with modern libraries that are 24/7 open, high-tech laboratories, sports facilities, student clubs, and social spaces.”
Rector Özölçer reminded students that life is not just about classes and encouraged them to join social, cultural, and sports activities. He also noted that making use of the natural, historical, and cultural treasures of Zonguldak would make the university experience more worthwhile.
Mentioning the saying “Knowing yourself is wisdom, knowing the world is knowledge”, Özölçer advised students to determine a goal and work steadily towards that goal. He said, “Your hard work will certainly pay off.”
Mentioning that the university has won fourth place in the “Sport-Friendly Campus” Project, Rector Özölçer stated that we support the physical and psychological development of the students with modern sports facilities such as a semi-olympic swimming pool, fitness hall, basketball and soccer fields, and tennis courts. He wished an academic year of success and happiness.
The 2025-2026 Academic Year Orientation Video was screened after the Rector’s speech. The program ended with a selfie Prof. Dr. Özölçer took with the students.
After the program, Prof. Dr. Özölçer visited student cafeteria. While having lunch with students, he listened to the students. He also visited the stands of the student clubs.
Under the scope of the Student Clubs Introduction Days, presentations and social activities will be organized. Students will be able to visit the stands during this period.
