Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) hosted an event reflecting strong of national solidarity and unity. During the event organized at Farabi Youth Office in coordination with Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, students watched the 2026 FIFA World Cup Europe Qualifying Rounds play-off match between Türkiye and Romania enthusiastically.
BEUN Students at Farabi Youth Office became one heart at the match that started at 8 p.m. with the spirited fight of the team with the star and crescent. The victory of Türkiye with 1-0 score was met with joy.
Young People Shared Excitement
The event held at the Farabi youth Office created a sense of unity as well as being a match-watching event. Sharing the same excitement of students from various faculties demonstrated the integrating power of sports.
Rector Özölçer: “It Is Extremely Valuable to Come Together Around the Same National Values”
BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following in his remarks on the event:
“The fight our National Team put up in the field and this meaningful victory made us all happy and proud. Another point that is as significant as this victory is that our students shared the sense of unity and national solidarity all together. Universities are not just academic institutions that prepare students for their professional lives. They are also life areas where social, cultural, and sporting activities are shared. This atmosphere which our students created by being together is a reflection of how young people come together around national values.
I would like to thank Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and units of our university who contributed to this event and congratulate our national team for making us proud. I wish continuous success to all our athletes who proudly fly our flag on every platform.
