The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, attended the briefing meeting of the “Life in the Campus Veins” campaign held within the National Blood Donation Mobilization scope.
Speaking at the meeting held before the event, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized the significance of blood donation and said, “Blood is not an emergency need, but a continuous one. We, as BEUN, believe it is our responsibility to raise awareness on this issue. We not only save lives through this campaign in collaboration with the Zonguldak Branch of Turkish Red Crescent, but also contribute to the environment. One unit of blood equals three saplings. I invite all students, academic and administrative staff, and citizens to join in this campaign.”
Prof. Dr. Özölçer thanked the blood donors and the academic and administrative staff who will contribute to the campaign, as well as the students in advance.
The campaign that starts with an aim of 101 bags of blood from each unit of the university will continue throughout October. A power bank will be given as a gift to the blood donors, and three saplings will be planted in the name of the donors.
