
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Unversity (BEUN) hosted a meaningful event on the 19th September, Veterans’ Day. Organized in cooperation with Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, the short film screening of “Memories Carried With Honor” took place at the Doç. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall on the Farabi Campus.
The Vice Rector of BEUN, Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Zonguldak Provincial Director of Family and Social Services, Mehmet Türkmen Köse, the Head of Martyrs’ Families Solidarity and Support Association, Mustafa Yorulmaz, academic and administrative personnel, martyrs’ and veterans’ families, veterans, and students attended the event.
In his opening speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu stated that it is an honor in the name of our university to get together with veterans who witnessed the near history of Türkiye and bring them together with with our students. Karasu also noted that:
“It is a source of pride for us to listen to the stories of our esteemed elders who attained the honorable status of veteran. I express my gratitude to our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer who pioneered this event. I would also like to thank the academic and administrative staff of our university, who contributed to this organization, and Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.”
At the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Karasu wished health and peace for all the veterans, remembering all our martyrs and balated veterans particularly Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with mercy and compassion.
At the end of the short film screening, attendants visited the exhibitions. This event added meaning to this day as a meeting that strenghened the feelings of patriotism and self devotion.
