Library Data Demonstrated BEUN’s Strong Capacity for Access to Information

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has chieved a remarkable success in the evaluation of library statistics of the 24 universities that were established in 1992, standing out for its performance in access to printed and digital resources. The university ranked first in the total number of e-publications and also placed among top institutions in terms of the number of books as well as the ratio of information resources per student and per staff member.

First Place in Access to Digital Resources

Standing out with its digital library resources, BEUN ranked first in total number of e-publications with 11,861,304 e-publications. The university also ranked second in terms of the ratio of e-publications per student, third in terms of ratio per academic member, and sixth in terms of ratio per staff member and demonstrated its capacity to have access to digital information resources.

A Strong Position in Printed Resources

According to the results, BEUN ranked fifth in total number of books with 171,853 printed books. Holding sixth place in terms of the number of books per student, the university ranked eighth in terms of the number of books per staff member and sixth in terms of the number of books per academic staff. These results demonstrate the strength of BEUN’s printed resource infrastructure that supports educational and research activities.

Library Infrastructure That Has Strengthened Since 1992

Established as Zonguldak Karaelmas University on 11 July 1992 and continuing its activities as Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), our university continues to use printed and digital resources for the educational activities and scientific research by developing its library infrastructure.

Rector Özölçer: “We Consider Access to Information as a Priority”

In his remarks on the library statistics, the Rector of BEUN Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:

“Being in the top rankings of library statistics among universities established in 1992 is a result of an approach that considers access to information as a strategic priority. Especially holding the first place in Türkiye in the number of e-publications is a clear sign of investments done in the digital library infrastructure. We will continue to improve printed and digital resources in a sustainable manner and support the scientific production of our students and academic staff. I would like to extend my thanks to particularly library administrators and all academic and administrative staff who contributed to this success.”
