"Kintsugi: Psychological Awareness Workshop", organized by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Psychological Counseling and Guidance (PDR) Club was held with strong participation. The program was carried out under the guidance of academic advisor of the club, and the Director of PDR Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Okan Bilgin.

In the workshop, fragility, self-compassion, and psychological resilience were discussed through Kintsugi metaphor. Moving from the basis that broken ceramics are repaired with gold in Kintsugi tradition, it was emphasized that the hardships and fragility endured in one’s life are not flaws to be hidden, but a part of personal development and pursuit of meaning.

The participants had the chance to attach new meanings to their fragile memories they have experienced by fixing ceramic pieces as part of the experimental practice of the program. In the workshop supported by guided visualization practices and little group shares, it was aimed to introduce emotional awareness and develop self-compassion abilities of the students.

At the end of the event, participants expressed that they had the chance to evaluate the resilience term on Kintsugi metaphor.

The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated that they care about university students’ psychological and social development as well as their academic growth at BEUN.

Rector Özölçer said “University life is a process of development and transformation for young people. Strengthening the ability to handle difficulties in students and increasing their level of self-compassion and awareness are significant. I believe that this qualified workshop, held by the PDR Club, will contribute to the psychological resilience of the students.”
