The project titled “Lazer Scanner Gimbal for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle”, for which Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University is the applicant and whose inventors are Prof. Dr. Umut Güneş Sefercik from Gebze Technical University and Asst. Prof. Dr. Serkan   Karakış from İzmir Katip Çelebi University has been awarded a Utility Model Registration Certificate.

Laser scanner gimbal developed under the project aims to improve the performance of UAVs, “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle”, especially in the mapping, environmental scanning, industrial inspection, and safety procedures. The highly sensitive and flexible system contributes to raising the standards in laser-based data collection.

On the certificate of Utility Model Registration, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, stated that the studies undertaken by Technology Transfer(TTO) have a significant role in this success. 
Prof. Dr. Özölçer emphasized that with the support of BEUN TTO in the process of commercialization of the ideas of the academics, the university has the opportunity to protect the rights on the institutional level as the applicant. He also thanked the academics who contributed to the project and said such studies strengthen the capacity of research and technology production of the university.  
 

The study awarded by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office was published in the Patent Journal dated August 21, 2025.
