The invention titled “Vibrating Wheel and Airbag-Supported Mechanism to Save Vehicles and Create Mobility on Soft Terrain,” developed by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Aytaç Onur, a faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), together with his students, has been found eligible for patent registration by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).

In the invention developed by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Aytaç Onur together with Faculty of Engineering students Almina Göktaş, Damla Yıldırım, İrem Önder, Caner Umul, Hayri Can Aslan, and Alzamin Karımlı, a mechanism and system are presented to enable vehicles to free themselves and continue moving after becoming stuck in terrains with low load-bearing capacity, such as swamps, sandy areas, and mud, where vehicle movement is particularly difficult. Designed to be mounted underneath a vehicle, the system incorporates a spherical jointed wheeled arm mechanism with wheels and mechanical arms, a hydraulic system, an air cushion system consisting of an air transmission channel and a compressed air tank, and a unit containing safety and automation systems. Thanks to this structure, the invention aims to enable vehicles that become stuck in swamps and similar challenging terrain conditions to recover themselves and improve their mobility. The invention has been granted a patent pursuant to the fifth paragraph of Article 98 of the Industrial Property Law No. 6769 and is expected to be published in the Official Patent Bulletin.
