Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Hospital continues to achieve significant success in the field of health with its strong academic staff and advanced technological infrasturucture. "Cryoballoon Ablation Method", which is a method used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, one of the most common heart rhythm disorders, was successfully performed for the first time in Zonguldak by the Physicians of Cardiology Department at BEUN.

Effective Fight Against Rhythm Disorders with Cryoballoon Ablation

Atrial Fibrillation is known to be a common rhythm disorder that can lead to symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, and fatigue as a result of irregular electrical activities in the upper chambers of heart. If left untreated, it can cause serious complications, particularly stroke; however, it can now be effectively managed with modern cardiology techniques. Cryballoon Ablation Method successfully performed by Cardiology Department and Faculty of Medicine academic staff at BEUN Hospital, stands out as a minimally invasive treatment method. During the procedure, the areas causing the arrhythmia are isolated using cold energy, allowing the heart to return to its normal rhythm. This approach aims not only to control rhythm disorders but also to significantly improve patients’ quality of life.

This achievement is particularly important as it marks the first time the procedure has been performed in Zonguldak at BEUN Hospital. With its high success rate and short procedure time, the cryoballoon ablation method enables eligible patients to access advanced treatment locally, without the need to travel to major metropolitan centers. This development represents a significant step forward in enhancing the quality of healthcare services across the Western Black Sea Region.
