Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) attained remarkable success with its efforts focused on quality in higher education. As a result of the assessment of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), BEUN has been accredited for five years following the decision dated July 18, 2025.
BEUN, having been granted conditional accreditation for 2 years on April 26, 2023, strengthened the quality culture and institutional structure during this period. As a result of constant and systematic work, BEUN was upgraded to full accreditation on July 18, 2025, proving its international quality standards.
The Process from Conditional Accreditation to Full Accreditation
Assessing universities under the international quality standards, THEQC conducted a meticulous studies both inspecting the related documents and conducting face-to-face field trips. The assessment team visited each of the academic and administrative units and held face-to-face meetings.
Within the scope of this assessment, the activities of BEUN in the areas of education, research-development, social impact, leadership, and international fields were examined. Strategic plans, quality-security processes, student-graduate satisfaction, and the monitoring and evaluation system of the university were also analyzed.
As a result of the assessment process, the THEQC Assessment team has deemed BEUN successful. BEUN, one of the leading academic institutions in Türkiye in terms of effectively integrating theory into practice through a learning-based educational approach that fosters awareness of learning, has successfully completed the external evaluation process conducted by the THEQC within the scope of the Institutional Accreditation Program.
Quality from Education to Research in BEUN
Being accredited for 5 years shows that BEUN has been successful in applying quality culture in the institution, is open to development, and meets the national standards.
Institutional accreditation also demonstrates that the university meets the criteria of continuous improvement, quality management, and the provision of diplomas recognized at the international level. In this way, BEUN continues to serve as an attractive center for students and further strengthens its appeal as a preferred institution.

The conditional accreditation process provided us with a clear path and enabled us to see the areas open to development. With the academic and administrative units, we continued to work, focusing on being more comprehensive and dedicated. The fact that we are accredited for five years shows the quality of our system.”

Stating the prestige of this success at the national and international levels, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer continued:

Hence, full accreditation is a sign of the quality of our work.

With a dynamic, participatory, and student-centered management philosophy, we have embraced the principle of continuous improvement and structured all our processes accordingly.
