Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) added another achievement to its success in university sports. The BEUN Women’s Futsal Team achieved a significant success by being among Türkiye’s most successful teams in the final group matches of the “UNILIG Futsal Türkiye Championship” held at Çukurova Unievrsity. Finishing the tournament in the top eight, the BEUN Women’s Futsal Team earned the right to compete in the Super League for the first time in its history next year.
The event was held with wide participation at Çukurova University between 2-9 May, 2026 under the coordination of Turkish University Sports Federation. A total of 656 athletes (448 male and 208 female) from 28 universities competed in the championship. BEUN Women’s Futsal Team achieved the success to raise, first time in its history, to the Super League in the tournament which includes university teams across Türkiye.

In his remarks on the subject, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer highlighted that this historic success achieved by women athletes is extremely significant for the university and added:
“I wholeheartedly congratulate BEUN Women’s Futsal Team, who made it to the top 8 achieving the right to compete in the Super League for the first time. It is a source of pride for us to witness the fight they put up in the field.
This success achieved today is the result of the strong sports culture and the sense of solidarity we have created in our university and opportunities we provide for our students. We care about their development in the fields of sports and social life as well as their academic success. We will continue to stand by our youth and support them In line with this understanding. The success they have achieved is a source of inspiration for all our students in all departments not just for students in the field of sports. This success that represents university is a sign of greater achievements to come. It is a source of pride and satisfaction for us to see them compete in the Super League.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, who has always supported young athletes, and the Ministry community as well as the President of Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, who has always stood by us and YÖK community. I would also like to thank the President of Turkish University Sports Federation and the Rector of Bayburt University Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen for his contribution to the university sports.
