Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics students at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Faculty of Science achieved a great success at the GO GOSB Startup Accelerator Program organized by Gebze Organized Industrial Zone Technopark (GOSB Technopark) between October 15-17, 2025. The project titled “Molecular Level Detection of Impurities in Food Products” (BACTEON) developed by students from Faculty of Science, Gizem Nur Gülmez, Ravza Emine Ay and Emir Şahan Üzünaldım and their advisor Prof. Dr. İdris Arslan, an academic member of the BEUN Faculty of Science was ranked the first among 23 finalist teams.
BEUN students at the competition held at Technopark earned the big prize with their project that stood out with its scientific depth and innovative approach among their strong rivals. Students were awarded a pc and office use rights at GOSB Technopark for a year. The prizes were presented by the Director of GOSB Technopark inc., Prof. Dr. Murat Çemberci.
Following the event, investors operating in GOSB Technopark and jury members shared positive feedback on the commercialization of the project, and they expressed their intention to assess the investment opportunities offered within the technopark.

The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, stated the following on the achievement of Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics students at the Faculty of Science:
