Great Interest in the BEUN Stand from the Music World

The Instrument Making and Repair Department of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) State Conservatory achieved great success by taking part in the IMEEF International Music Industries Fair held between 4 and 7 December 2025. Representing BEUN with the participation of Asst. Prof. Dr. Sinan Uçar, the Head of Department, Lecturer Cem Dertsiz, and the department’s students, the team stood out in the fair with their academic expertise and the quality of the instruments they produced.

Pioneering companies of the music industry and instrument makers from various countries attended the fair, which included attendees all over the world, from Europe to China. In the event, which hosted many professional instrument makers across Türkiye, the İstanbul University Turkish Music State Conservatory Department of Music Technologies and Ege University Turkish Music State Conservatory Instrument Making and Repair Department took part and added scientific and artistic richness to the fair.

The BEUN stand attracted great interest from many well-known names in the music world. Well-known kanun artist Aytaç Durak, musicologist and fair consultant Ayhan Sarı, Director of İstanbul University State Conservatory of Turkish Music Prof. Dr. Gözde Çolakoğlu Sarı, internationally renowned violin virtuoso Prof. Dr. Cihat Aşkın, Director of Ege University State Conservatory of Turkish Music Prof. Dr. Ali Maruf Alaskan, and Serdar Kılıç, the producer of the program “Doğadaki İnsan” broadcast on TRT Belgesel, visited the stand and showed close interest in BEUN’s work in the field of instrument making.

Making evaluations on the subject, Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized the university’s competence in the field of art and design, stating:

“Our university continues not only to produce in science but also in every field of art, to create innovation, and to represent our country in the best way on international platforms. Instrument making is the combination of a deep cultural heritage and fine craftsmanship. The participation of our academic staff and students in a prestigious fair such as IMEEF has made a great contribution to the academic vision of both our University and our Conservatory. The fact that our stand was visited by leading artists and scientists in the field is an additional source of pride for us. On this occasion, I sincerely thank our esteemed instructors and our dear students who represented our university and our department in the best way at the fair.”
Throughout the event, the BEUN stand attracted great interest with the exhibited instruments, technical presentations, and the department’s academic studies, while the university successfully represented the Turkish instrument-making tradition on the international stage, creating significant awareness.
