Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) met prospective students and their families in the University Promotion and Preference Fair organized at İstanbul Congress Center as part of the YKS preference period. Hosting many visitors, BEUN stand was among the most popular universities with its strong academic structure, hands-on training opportunities, international achievements, technology producing student ecosystem, and student-friendly campus life.
During the fair held between 23-25 July, Corporate Communication Office Coordinator Lecturer Ufuk Tok, Assistant Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Melek Toparlak Şahin, and office members represented Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University. University representatives answered the questions of prospective students and their families and informed them about BEUN’s education, research, and career opportunities.
BEUN’s Deep Rooted History and Departments in the list of Professions of the Future Were Introduced to Prospective Students
Being among Türkiye’s well-established universities with its academic background of almost a century, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University moves forward with its 16 faculties, 9 vocational schools, 3 schools, 1 state conservatory, 34 application and research centers, nearly 30,000 students and almost 123,000 graduates.
New educational programs meeting the needs of digital transformation were also introduced during the fair. Programs such as Big-Data Analytics, Game Development and Programming, Back-end Software Development in the Information Technologies Vocational School and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Alaplı Vocational School attracted great attention from students.
University of Technology Producing Students
One of the most popular topics discussed at BEUN Stand was the achievements of the university in the fields of science and technology. Students were informed about the Grizu-263 Space Team which launched the first and only pocket satellite, world rankings achieved in NASA CanSat Competition, championship in the TÜRKSAT Model Satellite Competition, achievements in TEKNOFEST and students’ clubs achieving success in national and international competitions. National Technology Workshops at the university were also among the topics discussed. It was stated that students were introduced to the project culture even at the beginning of their education, developed products in team projects, and participated in the projects contributing to Türkiye’s vision of National Technology Initiative.
While it was highlighted that the success achieved in TÜBİTAK, TEKNOFEST, and ÜNİDES projects is a significant sign of strong project production culture, it was also stated that students are provided with rich opportunities from laboratories, and academic advice to workshops and entrepreneurship ecosystems. It was also noted that Zonguldak TECHNOPARK, one of the most technology development regions in Western Black Sea, provides students with opportunities in their journey of Research and Development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Representatives also informed students about the education opportunities as well as strong academic staff at BEUN. It was stated that thanks to its 28 accredited programs and 20 programs with Türkiye Qualifications Framework (TYÇ) logo, the university provides students with internationally recognized diplomas, while giving them the chance to make use of education and internship movement opportunities with its hundreds of Erasmus+ agreements with 43 countries. It was also noted that students can do double major and minors in various departments and successful students can make use of undergraduate transfer opportunities and plan their academic goals.
Strong Education in Cooperation with the Industry
One of the most advantages of BEUN, hands-on training model was introduced to visitors in detail. It was emphasized that thanks to cooperation agreements with strong local industrial institutions, particularly Erdemir, organized industrial zones, health institutions, and public institutions, students have the chance to do internships and get to know the professional life before they graduate. It was also stated that students in the field of health gain professional experience at BEUN hospital, one of the most significant centers of Western Black Sea region.
Student-Friendly Campuses in Green and Blue Were Appreciated by Students
One of the popular topics during the fair was campus life. Türkiye’s most ecofriendly university according to GreenMetric rankings, BEUN’s natural campuses, semi-Olympic swimming pool, modern sports facilities, more than 180 student clubs, cultural activities, BEUNFEST, 24/7 open modern libraries, and social life facilities were introduced to prospective students. It was stated that thanks to the KYK dormitories near the campuses, students have safe and comfortable accommodation opportunities, and it was highlighted that vicinity to İstanbul and Ankara as well as the easy transportation in the city were among the important factors in students’ choice.

In his remarks on the University Promotion and Preference Fair in İstanbul, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:
“We are pleased to see the high interest in our university in İstanbul where thousands of students share their future. This interest proves that success in the fields of science, education, technology, and internationalization is recognized by people. Our university is a strong higher education institution that brings together young people who do research, develop, produce, and build their future. They transform their ideas into projects in National Technology Workshops, research laboratories, technopark, and project teams and achieve significant success on many platforms such as TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK, and ÜNİDES.
We provide students with qualified education that prepares them for the future thanks to our accredited programs, international collaborations, Erasmus+ mobility, double major and minor opportunities, strong hands-on training model, collaborations with the industry and student-focused approach.
