At Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), a series of performances demonstrating the talents of individuals with autism, organized as part of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, received great appreciation from the audience.
The program, organized in collaboration with Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, and Karaelmas Association for Individuals with Autism, became a significant meeting point where society was informed on the topic and children with autism could demonstrate their talents.
The event, held at BEUN Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center, was attended by BEUN Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal, Zonguldak Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Mehmet Türkmen Köse, the President of Karaelmas Association for Individuals with Autism Arife Dereli, academic and administrative staff, children with autism and their families and citizens.
In her opening speech, President Arife Dereli stated her wish that the event would lead to more participation of individuals with autism in the social life and the awareness is raised and added, “I would like to thank particularly Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer who hosted the event and BEUN community, Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, and Karaelmas Association for Individuals with Autism, and those who attended the event ot support us.”
The shows performed by children with autism were widely appreciated by attendees. Children who demonstrated their talents through musical and dance performances created emotional moments for the audience. The significance of the event in raising awareness for the individuals with autism and strengthening social integration was emphasized during the event.
The program organized for the World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University concluded with a commemorative photo.
