Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) 2025-2026 Academic Year Faculty of Medicine White Coat Ceremony witnessed emotional moments filled with pride and excitement. Future doctors, who will touch human lives, took their first steps into their professional careers by donning their white coats.
The ceremony held at Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center was attended by BEUN Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal and Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, Zonguldak Provincial Director of Health Specialist Mustafa Özkan Gün, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Hande Aydemir, senate members, academic and administrative staff, students, and their families.
The program started with a moment of silence for the revered martyrs and singing of the National Anthem and continued with opening speeches.
Dean Aydemir: “White Coat is the Symbol of Knowledge, Conscience, and Responsibility”
In her opening speech, the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Hande Aydemir stated that white coat is one of the most significant symbols of medicine and wished students success in their education. Highlighting that medical education is not only about medical information, Aydemir stated that it requires respect for human life, ethical values, and awareness of social responsibility. Thanking Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his support in the development of the faculty, Aydemir congratulated students donning their white coats and their families.
Vice Rector Bakkal: “White Coat is the Symbol of Love for Service to Humanity”
In his speech following Aydemir, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal highlighted the responsibility of medicine and stated the following:
“You will begin a new life today, donning your white coats. A white coat is the symbol of honesty, dignity, and responsibility. It is a symbol of love for service to humans disregarding religion, language, or race. I wholeheartedly believe that you will share the future by completing your education at the Faculty of Medicine. I wish you all health, success, and happiness in your path to becoming a doctor.”
Students Proudly Donned Their White Coats
Following the speeches, first and 4th year students donned their white coats in the presence of their academics and their families. Wearing white coats, first symbol of their professional lives, proudly and in excitement, students experienced memorable moments in this meaningful day representing the beginning of their path in becoming a doctor.
