
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Faculty of Engineering 2025-2026 Academic Board Meeting was held.
The meeting was held at Tahit Karauğuz Conference Hall and was attended by the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Univeristy Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rector, and the Dean of Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, vice deans, anc academics.
Academic and Administrative Activities of Faculty of Engineering Were Discussed
At the opening of the meeting, Dean Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu delivered a presentation on the activities carried out during the 2024–2025 Academic Year. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Karasu provided detailed information on the planned activities for the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the new academic year roadmap, the number of academic and administrative staff and students, as well as the scientific and social projects and academic studies that have been completed or are currently ongoing within the faculty. He also shared information on the academic projects they aim to implement and the social, cultural, and community-oriented activities planned for students. Concluding his remarks, Prof. Dr. Karasu thanked BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his continuous support for the development of the Faculty of Engineering.
Following the presentations, the 2025–2026 Academic Meeting of the Faculty of Engineering continued with BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer presenting certificates of appreciation to academicians who stood out with their scientific publications in national and international indexed journals.
Rector Özölçer: “Our Faculty of Engineering leads the technology and research vision of our university”
After the certificate presentation, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer delivered a general evaluation of the 2024–2025 Academic Year. Wishing the 2025–2026 Academic Year to be auspicious for the university family, Rector Özölçer emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering’s work in the field of patent, utility model, and technology development as well as its TÜBİTAK supported projects international collaborations make significant contributions to the university’s scientific strength.
Emphasizing that the patents and utility models transform the university’s capacity of producing information into concrete outcomes, Özölçer stated that studies on energy efficiency, environmental technologies, building materials, mapping and information systems make direct contributions to the local and national development.
Highlighting that the high acceptance rate of the Faculty in TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B strengthens the research culture on the undergraduate level, Özölçer said “Having the ability to produce projects on the undergraduate level is extremely significant in raising qualified engineers”.
Mentioning the internationalization vision of the Faculty of Engineering, Rector Özölçer stated that the faculty increased its activity on the global scale with Erasmus+ projects, KA220-VET cooperation, and international academic collaborations. Noting that international academic mobility and mutual projects enhance the quality of research, Özölçer stated that academic quality of the university is strengthened through initiatives within the scope of the Article 46 (Additional) of Higher Education Law No.2547.
Özölçer stated that it is a source of pride for us that the students of the Faculty of Engineering attained success in international technology competitions, particularly TEKNOFEST and added that especially projects focused on autonomous vehicle technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and defense industry demonstrate the practical engineering ability of the university.
Stating that it demonstrates the level of the university research ecosystem to have BEUN academics in the “World’s Most Efficient Scientists 2024” list, prepared in cooperation with Elsevier and Stanford University, Rector Özölçer emphasized that academics in the Highly Cited Researchers list published by Clarivate attained an internationally significant success.
Highlighting that initiatives taken in the field of sustainability, fight against climate change, clean energy, and environmental technologies overlap with the social responsibility vision of the university, Rector Özölçer stated that it is a source of pleasure for us that taking United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals into consideration in social responsibility projects carried out by the Faculty of Engineering.
At the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Özölçer expressed his thanks to the academic and administrative staff who contributed to the academic, scientific, and technological development of the Faculty of Engineering and added “I wholeheartedly believe that Faculty of Engineering will continue its development in the fields of research, innovation, project production, and internationalization”.
