Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has added another achievement to its success in sports. Semanur Gümüştaş, a student of the Coaching Education Department at the BEUN Faculty of Sports Sciences, achieved a significant success by becoming Türkiye champion in the 65+ kg category at the Junior Türkiye Championship. With this achievement, Gümüştaş earned the right to be invited to the national team camp, opening a new chapter in her career.

Athletes from Across Türkiye Competed Fiercely

The Junior Türkiye Championship, held between April 3–5, 2026, and attended by university athletes from 10 different cities, stood out with its high level of competition. The organization, where successful athletes from various universities competed, witnessed intense excitement throughout the matches.

BEUN national athlete Semanur Gümüştaş claimed the gold medal by outperforming her opponents with her consistent performance throughout the tournament. Her Türkiye championship in the 65+ kg category was recorded as a source of pride both for her individual career and for her university.

In his remarks on the achievement, BEUN Rector İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:

“I sincerely congratulate our esteemed student Semanur Gümüştaş, who represented our university with a Türkiye championship in such an important organization. This success is a concrete reflection of disciplined work, determination, and perseverance. This valuable achievement and her invitation to the national team camp have been an additional source of pride for us. As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we continue to mobilize all our resources to ensure that our students are well developed not only academically but also in sports. The achievements of our athletes at national and international platforms are a reflection of our university’s strong vision in this field.
