The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer attended the closing ceremony of the program titled "From the Roots to the Future: Intergenerational Interaction and Support Program". Organized by the Psychology and Life Society, the initiative was supported by the University Student Clubs Cooperation and Support Program (ÜNİDES). Held within the scope of Seniors Week, the event fostered a meaningful awareness by bringing together society students and nursing home residents, thereby strengthening the bonds and interaction between generations.
During the closing ceremony of the "From the Roots to the Future: Intergenerational Interaction and Support Program" supported by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Psychology and Life Student Club as part of ÜNİDES, students and nursery home residents came together. BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Zonguldak Provincial Director of Youth Services Erhan Yavaş, academic and administrative staff, students and nursery home residents attended the program held at the Farabi Youth Office.
Social Sensitivity and Social Responsibility
The program, which was organized by BEUN Psychology and Life Student Club Advisor Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Yeşilyaprak, was held as part of the Seniors Week. During the program, where Zonguldak Merkez Nursery Home residents were invited to the university, seniors and young students came together and celebrated the Seniors Week. As part of the event, nursery home residents sang folk songs with students. Participants shared joyful moments during the bag painting workshop. The event which strengthened the intergenerational interaction resulted in genuine conversations.

In his remarks on the event, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer expressed his pleasure for the students’ achievements within the scope of ÜNİDES and added:
“As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we care to raise our students as well-established individuals with their social and cultural development along with their academic success. It reflects the holistic educational approach our university has adopted that our students’ communities adopt project production culture and create more qualified, comprehensive, and effective initiatives each term. Today, we attended the closing ceremony of “"From the Roots to the Future: Intergenerational Interaction and Support Program" supported by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Psychology and Life Student Club as part of ÜNİDES 5th Period. This event is a meaningful and exemplary initiative.
Such initiatives that bring the youth and seniors strengthen the social solidarity and intergenerational interaction. On this occasion, I would like to extend my thanks to esteemed seniors and wish them a healthy, peaceful, and long life. The sensitivity our students have demonstrated, and their sense of responsibility, is a source of pride and happiness.
I would like to extend my gratitude to Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the General Directorate of Youth Services for UNİDES program that provides students with the opportunity to produce projects and develop themselves. I would also like to thank Zonguldak Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Halil Hacı and Provincial Directorate. Lastly, I congratulate particularly the Psychology and Life Student Club and all student clubs and their valuable advisors and wish them success in their endeavors.
