Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) hosted another significant scientific event that brought together the scientists and engineers of the future in the fields of engineering and technology. The 10th International Student Symposium of Future Engineers (EFIS 2026), held this year, started with wide participation and brought together young researchers, academics, and students from different disciplines on the same scientific platform.
The opening program held at Tahir Karauğuz Conference Hall was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu and Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu, academics, researchers, students, many guests.
The program began with a moment of silence and singing of National Anthem, continued with opening speeches.
Young Engineers to Discuss the Future of Science and Technology at BEUN
The symposium, where recent developments in engineering, innovative technologies, and the scientific studies of young researchers will be presented, provides students with the opportunity to make their academic work visible at the international level, meet researchers from different disciplines, and develop new collaborations.
As part of the symposium, which will be held in a hybrid format over two days, numerous scientific papers focusing on artificial intelligence, energy technologies, sustainable engineering applications, digital transformation, environmental technologies, and the engineering solutions of the future will be presented.
Vice Rector Karasu: “Engineering Is the Responsibility of Producing Solutions to Humanity’s Common Challenges”
Delivering the opening speech of the symposium, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu stated:
“In today’s world, where science and technology are advancing rapidly, engineering involves not only producing technical solutions but also developing innovative, sustainable, and practical solutions to humanity’s common challenges. EFIS, which we are holding for the tenth time this year, is an important scientific platform where our students can share their academic studies, meet researchers from different disciplines, develop new collaborations, and broaden their professional horizons. I would like to thank our organizing committee members, academics, student volunteers, and all stakeholders who contributed to the realization of this meaningful event. I wish EFIS 2026 to be beneficial for the scientific community, our university, and all participants, and I hope that our symposium will be productive, successful, and inspiring.”
Vice Rector Kutoğlu: “The Engineering Solutions of the Future Are Being Shaped by Today’s Young Researchers”
Speaking at the opening program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu stated:
“Today, the world is undergoing a major transformation in many areas, from artificial intelligence and energy to climate change and digital transformation. At the center of this transformation lies engineering science. Those who will design the cities, energy systems, transportation networks, and technologies of the future are today’s young engineers and researchers. Our university is among the leading institutions with its strong academic staff, research infrastructure, and student-centered educational approach. EFIS, which has been successfully organized for the past ten years, is one of the most important reflections of this vision. I would like to thank all our academics, the organizing committee, and everyone who contributed to the symposium, and I sincerely congratulate all our students who have enriched this academic atmosphere by sharing their scientific work.”
Scientific Sessions Will Continue Until 19 June
The 10th International Student Symposium of Future Engineers (EFIS 2026) will continue with scientific sessions held in a hybrid format on 18–19 June 2026.
