
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University has added another remarkable achievement to its record in university sports. In the UNILIG Futsal competitions organized by the Türkiye University Sports Federation (TÜSF), the BEUN Women’s Futsal Team became group champions with an outstanding undefeated performance, while the Men’s Futsal Team secured third place in their group.
Major Success in Group Competitions
In the organization, which brought together 2,258 athletes from 98 universities, the group matches hosted by Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University witnessed impressive performances by BEUN teams. The Women’s Futsal Team won all their matches, finishing at the top without a single loss. With their disciplined gameplay, strong team spirit, and determined presence on the field, they stood out as one of the most successful teams of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Men’s Futsal Team also delivered a commendable performance, finishing third in their group and proudly representing BEUN with their competitive spirit. Following these results, the BEUN Women’s Futsal Team qualified for the UNILIG Futsal Türkiye Championship finals, which will be held between May 2–9, 2026, at Çukurova University.
Rector Özölçer: “These Achievements Reflect the True Spirit of Teamwork”
Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer expressed his pride in the teams’ achievements and stated “I wholeheartedly congratulate Women’s Futsal Team who represented our university in such a highly participated and competitive organization. The women’s undefeated championship is a reflection of determination, disciplined effort, and strong team spirit. Men’s team’s third-place finish is a significant source of pride for the university. We are committed to supporting students’ athletic development and I believe these accomplishments will pave the way for even greater successes in the future.
I extend my gratitude to Osman Aşkın Bak, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the Council of Higher Education Turkiye for their continuous support of student-athletes. I would also like to thank the President of TÜSF and the Rector of Bayburt University Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen for his contributions to the organization, and the Rector of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Prof. Dr. Fatih Yılmaz along with the university community for their successful hosting of the event.
