
As part of the March 8 International Women’s Day events, a training session titled "Breast Cancer Awareness" was conducted by Prof. Dr. Güldeniz Karadeniz Çakmak, a faculty member of the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Faculty of Medicine. The event was organized in collaboration with the Gökçebey City Council and the Gökçebey Mayoralty.
The event drew significant interest from the local community and was attended by Mayor Vedat Öztürk, Dean of the BEUN Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ferda Çakmak, Director of Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdal Kara, President of the Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School Support and Development Association Sevgi Kurtoğlu, district protocol members, academics, and numerous citizens.
During her presentation, Prof. Dr. Güldeniz Karadeniz Çakmak highlighted the critical importance of early diagnosis in breast cancer, providing participants with comprehensive information on symptoms, risk factors, and prevention methods. Stressing the necessity of regular check-ups and early detection, Çakmak emphasized that raising awareness, particularly among women regarding breast self-examination, plays a vital role in identifying the disease at an early stage.
