Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) achieved a significant success at the Round University Ranking (RUR) 2026, one of the most prestigious ranking systems. According to the rankings prepared based on the critaria, such as education, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability, BEUN continued its steady rise both in Türkiye and around the world.

A Remarkable Rise in Research Performance

According to RUR 2026 results, BEUN achieved a great success in one of the most significant components of the rankings “Research Ranking”, which maked 40% of the total mark. Taking the 61st place in Türkiye in 2025, BEUN made it to the 42 nd place in 2026. Raising to the 953rd place in the world from 1128th, the university marked a significant increase in the rankings. Research scores rose from 18101 to 35018 demonstrating a significant increase of 16917 points.

International Visibility Keeps Strengthening

Achieving a significant rise in the International Diversity category, BEUN rose from 60th place to 48th in Türkiye. Advancing 89 places rising from 1051st to 962nd place in the world rankings, BEUN continues to be rewarded for its efforts in line with increasing the number of international students and academic members. BEUN’s score in this category rose from 30201 to 36541.

Significant Success in Financial Sustainability

Advancing significantly in the Financial Sustainability category, which makes 10 percent of the total score, BEUN rose from 40th to 30th place advancing 10 places. Rising from 943rd to 801st place, BEUN achieved a significant rise of 142 places. Thus, financial sustainability score rose up to 41481 to 29934.

BEUN Continues with Its Steady Rise in the General Rankings

 The advances achieved according to the RUR 2026 results were reflected on the general rankings. BEUN rose 4 places from 61st to 57th place in Türkiye general rankings. It also rise from 1160th to 1090th place in the world rankings marking a significnat rise of 70 places. BEUN’s general score rose drom 23228 to 32193 marking a significant performance advance.

In his remarks on the RUR 2026 results, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized that this success is a reflection of BEUN’s research, internationalization, and institutional development focused vision and added the following:

“The advance we achieved according to the RUR 2026 results, is a strong reflection of BEUN’s  scientific production, research capacity, and internationalization efforts in recent years. Especially, the fact that we rose 19 places in the research category on the national level, and 175 places in the world rankings demonstrates the dedicated work of our academics. Achieving another success in the international academic community, our university continues to grow in the fiedls of education, research&development, international collaborations, and social contributions. This success is not just about the rankings. This proves BEUN’S scientific productivity, institutional capacity, and strong international visibility. With this in mid, I would like to express my gratitude to the President of Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and YÖK community. I would also like to thank all academic and administrative staff, researchers, and student for their contibutions to this success.
