Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has achieved another significant success in the field of university sports. BEUN Woman’s Hockey Team, competing in the UNILIG Türkiye Hockey Championship- organized by Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF)- ranked 4th with its outstanding performance against strong rivals.
92 Athletes from 7 Universities Competed
44 men and 48 women, 92 athletes in total competed in the organization hosted by Gaziantep University between 14th and 18th April 2026. During the highly competitive championship, BEUN Women’s Hockey Team attracted attention with its competitive play, disciplined stance and team spirit and became the 4th in the tournament. With its determination, hard work, and strong game, BEUN Women’s Hockey Team represented the university and achieved significant sports success.

In his remarks on the topic, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated his satisfaction with the results and added:
“BEUN Women’s Hockey Team’s ranking 4th in the championship even though it was its first appearance in the ÜNİLİG Women’s Hockey category is a source of pride for us. I wholeheartedly congratulate our Women’s Hockey Team for representing our university successfully during the championship. Achieving a prestigious rank as 4th in Türkiye reflects determination, hard work, and strong tea spirit. As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we try to support our students not only as academically but also in the fields of sports and social life. I wholeheartedly believe that these achievements will continue to grow and that our students will accomplish even greater successes in the future.
On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, and the Ministry for their continuous support of our young athletes; as well as to the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the esteemed Council of Higher Education for their ongoing support to us and our students.
I would also like to thank Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen, President of the Turkish University Sports Federation and Rector of Bayburt University, for his valuable contributions to the successful organization of the ÜNİLİG Hockey Türkiye Championship and for his efforts toward the development of university sports.
