
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Hospital has made another significant investment to strengthen its technological infrastructure in healthcare. The next-generation digital PET/CT system, introduced to the Department of Nuclear Medicine at BEUN Hospital, has been made ready for service following the completion of its installation process.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the new digital PET/CT system will make significant contributions to the quality of healthcare services by providing high diagnostic accuracy in the diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, and evaluation of treatment response, particularly for oncological diseases as well as neurological and cardiovascular disorders.
More Reliable Diagnosis and Treatment Through Advanced Technology
Combining functional and anatomical imaging in a single examination, the next-generation system enables clearer visualization of small lesions through its high-sensitivity digital detector technology. Enhanced with advanced image-processing algorithms and artificial intelligence-supported reconstruction technologies, the device improves diagnostic accuracy while its motion correction systems maximize image quality. At the same time, shorter scan times and a low-dose approach prioritize both patient safety and comfort.
With its high-resolution computed tomography component, the system integrates metabolic and anatomical data into a single examination, providing physicians with a more comprehensive clinical assessment, particularly in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Expected to Serve Approximately 600 Patients Per Month
With the commissioning of the new digital PET/CT system, BEUN Hospital aims to provide advanced molecular imaging services to approximately 600 patients each month. This will enable patients not only from Zonguldak but also from other provinces across the Western Black Sea Region to access advanced imaging services more quickly and effectively.

Commenting on the commissioning of the new digital PET/CT system, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer made the following remarks:
"As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we continue our investments in healthcare with a strong vision aimed at shaping the healthcare services of the future. The next-generation digital PET/CT system we have introduced to our University Hospital will make significant contributions both to our city of Zonguldak and to the citizens who come to our hospital from across the Western Black Sea Region in search of hope and healing. This investment, which will further enhance the quality of our healthcare services through its advanced technology, particularly in the early diagnosis and treatment of many diseases, especially cancer, is one of the important steps reinforcing our vision of becoming the healthcare hub of the Western Black Sea Region.
Since the first day, strengthening the technological infrastructure of our University Hospital has been one of our top priorities. With this understanding, we have equipped our hospital with numerous advanced medical technologies and continue our efforts without interruption to ensure that our citizens have access to the highest-quality healthcare services within their own region. In the coming period, we will continue to implement further investments that will strengthen our healthcare infrastructure even more.
