Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) 2025-2026 Academic Year Faculty of Science Graduation Ceremony was held with great pride and enthusiasm. While the graduation ceremony of Faculty of Science, which raises the scientists of the future with its scientific knowledge production and research focused educational approach, witnessed emotional moments, students and families experienced the joy of crowning years of hard work with success.
The ceremony held at Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center, was attended by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, senate members, academic and administrative staff, students, and their family.
The program began with a moment of silence in memory of the nation's martyrs and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem.
Emotional Moments from the Faculty Valedictorian Çelebi
Valedictorian Pınar Çelebi, student of Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, shared her feelings and thoughts in the speech she gave on behalf of all the graduates. Highlighting that it was an honor to be on the platform as the valedictorian, Çelebi stated that various disciplines under the Faculty of Science meet around a principle of science. Stating that biologists study the structure of the living, physicists study the principles of the universe, and mathematicians the system behind this unique order trying to understand the secret to life, as a Molecular Biology and Genetics student Çelebi emphasized that the success achieved today is a result of the hard work and efforts made in laboratories, libraries, and theatres.
Thanking her professors for their support throughout her university years, Çelebi extended her gratitude to the university administration, particularly Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer. Highlighting that it is not possible to succeed without the support of families, Çelebi wished a successful and happy future for all the graduating students.
Dean Demir: “Faculty of Science Stands out with its Scientific Production and Academic Achievements”
Following the valedictorian’s speech, the Dean of Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Kadir Demir took the floor and congratulated students for their success and wished them health, happiness, and success in their future lives. Stating that Faculty of Science stands out with its Departments of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Molecular Biology and Genetics, as well as its scientific research, academic publications, and qualified educational activities, Demir highlighted that students also achieved the skills to think scientifically and the culture of questioning and research during their years at the faculty. Expressing his gratitude to Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his contributions to the faculties, support to scientific studies, and student focused administrative approach, Demir thanked all academic and administrative staff contributing to the students.
Rector Özölçer: “You will Step into the Future as a Generation Which Produces in the Light of Science”
In his speech on the meaning and the significance of the day, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:
“Today graduating student won’t have just a certificate of graduation. They also step into the future as individuals who think, do research, produce, and contribute to the future of the country under the light of science. As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we move forward with the pride to bring in tens of thousands of graduates for our country in the fields from health and arts to education and engineering. We are pleased to send off valuable graduates of Faculty of Science to their new lives. You are a generation to be inspired from Ali Kuşçu’s curiosity for the skies, Al-Biruni’s ambition for research, Al-Khwarizmi’s intelligence, Cahir Arf’a passion for science, and Oktay Sinanoğlu’s understanding of science shaped by the love for a nation. Use your knowledge in the service to humanity. I would like to give you some advice. Read ‘Gençlerle Başbaşa’ by Prof. Dr. Ali Fuad Başgil.

Çelebi’s Achievement Immortalized on the Ceremonial Log
Following the speeches, Pınar Çelebi, the top student of the 2025–2026 Academic Year Faculty of Science, affixed the plaque bearing his name onto the ceremonial log together with his family, leaving a permanent mark of his achievement in the university’s history.
Within the scope of the program, faculty second-ranked student Emir Can Aydın and third-ranked student Zeynep Kınalı were presented with plaques and certificates of achievement.
Graduation Oath and Cap Toss Celebration
Subsequently, the graduation oath was taken under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Melih Göcen from the Department of Mathematics. Following the oath ceremony, students celebrated their graduation excitement with great enthusiasm by tossing their caps into the air, sharing the joy of graduation with their families, friends, and academics.
Bid farewell with applause, the students—who will serve the country in the fields such as Biology, physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Molecular Biology and Genetics—left the hall amid emotional moments. The program concluded after commemorative group photographs were taken.
