Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) hosted another memorable national match screening event. Students came together in the event organized in cooperation with Zonguldak provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and BEUN. They celebrated the National Team’s victory against Kosovo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Europe play-off final all together with great enthusiasm.
BEUN students in the Farabi Youth Office banded together in each offense of the national team during the match which started at 9.45 pm. The victory of 1-0 against Kosovo became a great celebration as it also means the National Team achieved the right to be in 2026 FIFA World Cup. The students celebrated this historic success with enthusiasm.
Young People Shared Excitement
The event held at the Farabi youth Office created a sense of unity as well as being a match-watching event. Sharing the same excitement of students from various faculties demonstrated the integrating power of sports.
Rector Özölçer: “We Celebrated National Team’s Victory Together with Our Students”
In his remarks on this historic victory and joy at the campus, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following:
“This victory against Kosovo, which is the result of dedication, determination and struggle, and being able to be in 2026 FIFA World Cup is a source of joy for our nation. The fact that our flag with crescent and star will fly once again on a global platform is a meaningful sign of our country’s success in the field of football. Another point that is as significant as this victory is that our students shared the sense of unity and national solidarity all together. Universities are not just academic institutions that prepare students for their professional lives. They are also life areas where social, cultural, and sporting activities are shared. This atmosphere which our students created by being together is a reflection of how young people come together around national values.
This atmosphere in the Farabi Youth Office is a demonstration of how our youth come together around the national values. I congratulate all the athletes who made us proud , the technical team, and those who contributed to this success. I wish those who will represent our country in the 2026 FIFA World Cup success and many more achievements which will fly our flag on a global platform. I would also like to thank Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and our contributing units for this organization.”
