Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) took part in the official ceremonies and celebration programs held across the province on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. During the two-day events, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tekin Akdemir represented BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ulusoy and came together with city officials, students, and citizens.
Wreath-Laying Ceremony in Front of the Governor’s Office
The celebration program began with a wreath-laying ceremony in front of the Zonguldak Governor’s Office on Wednesday, October 28. Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, Garrison Commander Navy Colonel Mustafa Güzel, and Zonguldak Mayor Tahsin Erdem laid wreaths at the Atatürk Monument. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tekin Akdemir attended the ceremony on behalf of BEUN. The ceremony ended with a moment of silence and the National Anthem.
Congratulatory Ceremony at the Governor’s Office
On Thursday, October 29, the program continued with a congratulatory ceremony held at the Zonguldak Governor’s Office. Hosted by Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, the ceremony was attended by AK Party Zonguldak MPs Muammer Avcı and Ahmet Çolakoğlu, Yeni Party Zonguldak MP Eylem Ertuğ Ertuğrul, Black Sea Regional and Garrison Commander Navy Colonel Mustafa Güzel, Zonguldak Mayor Tahsin Erdem, Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor Gökhan Kapağan, BEUN Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tekin Akdemir, and provincial officials.
Enthusiastic Celebrations and Parade at Kemal Köksal Stadium
Following the congratulatory ceremony, the celebrations continued with a ceremony at Kemal Köksal Stadium. The ceremony was attended by Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu and his wife, Güney Hacıbektaşoğlu, AK Party Zonguldak MPs Muammer Avcı and Ahmet Çolakoğlu, Yeni Party Zonguldak MP Eylem Ertuğ Ertuğrul, Black Sea Regional and Garrison Commander Navy Colonel Mustafa Güzel, Zonguldak Mayor Tahsin Erdem, Chief Public Prosecutor Gökhan Kapağan, BEUN Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tekin Akdemir, provincial officials, students, and citizens.
The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by Governor Hacıbektaşoğlu, Mayor Erdem, and Garrison Commander Güzel congratulating citizens on the Republic Day. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Republic Day message was then read aloud. The program continued with folk dance performances and the presentation of awards to students who ranked in competitions on the theme of the Republic, and concluded with a parade. The parade, featuring veterans, members of the education community, non-governmental organizations, and miners who are symbols of the city, was marked by enthusiastic moments.
Celebrations Concluded with a Republic Day Reception
The October 29 Republic Day events continued with a Republic Day Reception held at the Police House and hosted by Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu and his wife, Güney Hacıbektaşoğlu.
The reception, organized to mark the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, was attended by AK Party Zonguldak MPs Muammer Avcı and Saffet Bozkurt, Black Sea Regional and Garrison Commander Navy Colonel Mustafa Güzel, Zonguldak Mayor Tahsin Erdem, Chief Public Prosecutor Gökhan Kapağan, Zonguldak Administrative Court President Mehmet Sümen, BEUN Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Tekin Akdemir, Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, and Prof. Dr. Hande Aydemir, provincial officials, members of the press, and citizens.
Governor Hacıbektaşoğlu congratulated all provincial and district officials, members of the police force, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and members of the press who attended the reception on Republic Day, and expressed his hope that they would celebrate many more national holidays together.
The Republic Day Reception ended with a musical performance by the BEUN State Conservatory, greetings, and commemorative photographs.
