A comprehensive collaboration agreement was signed between Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University(BEUN) and Zonguldak Regional Directorate of Forestry to develop a sense of environment, nature, and forest among young people.

The protocol was signed by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ulusoy and Zonguldak Regional Director of Forestry Halil Oflu.

Practical Trainings and Field Trips to be Organized

‘Love and Protection of Forests Student Club’ will be established at university. It is expected of students to participate in afforestation activities, trainings, technical field trips, and social responsibility projects under the umbrella of the club. In this respect, specialists from Zonguldak Regional Directorate of Forestry will give trainings in topics such as forest fire prevention, bio-diversity, afforestation techniques, and nature conservation.

Technical field trips will also be organized to various areas from nurseries and fire observation towers to forest maintenance areas and ecotourism locations. Student who participate in the activities will be provided by saplings and plantation equipment.

As part of the action plan to be prepared at the beginning of each academic year, interdisciplinary projects prepared by future health professionals from BEUN, which focus on the relationship between “Healthy Life and Healthy Nature will be prioritized. Students will also take active part in 21 March Forestry Week, 11 November National Afforestation Day, and awareness activities such as “Forest is Mine”.

In his remarks on the protocol, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ulusoy stated the following:

“We care about raising individuals who are environmentally conscious, have a love for nature and a sense of social responsibility as well as academically successful students. Thanks to the collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Forestry, students will have the chance to apply their theoretical knowledge into practice and contribute to the preservation of our forests and nature. I hope this protocol that brings together the youth energy and vision of Green Homeland will be beneficial for our University and Regional Directorate of Forestry, and express my heartfelt thanks to all those who contribute to the protocol, particularly the Regional Director of Forestry.”
